485 (Graduate) Temporary Visa

Overview:

After obtaining a 485 visa, international students who have graduated can live, study, and work in Australia to gain work experience for immigration purposes. As the primary applicant, a student can only apply for this visa once. This visa has two streams: Graduate Work (GW) with a validity of 1.5 years and Post-Study Work (PSW) with a maximum duration of 5 years. PSW is only available to applicants who applied for their first Australian student visa after November 5, 2011.

 

Eligibility:

  • For international students who have graduated from Australian schools.
  • No need for Expression of Interest (EOI) points.

 

Application Requirements:

  • Education requirement: Obtain a single qualification certificate with a study duration of at least two academic years or multiple qualification certificates with a total study duration of at least two academic years.
  • Study duration requirement: At least 16 months.
  • Visa application timing requirement: Apply within 6 months of receiving the graduation certificate.
  • Age requirement: Below 50.
  • Application location requirement: Within Australia.
  • English requirement: Average IELTS score not less than 6, with no component less than 5.
  • Occupation requirement: Nominated occupation must be on the relevant occupation list (no requirement for PSW stream).
  • Skills assessment requirement: Pass the relevant occupation skills assessment (no requirement for PSW stream).

Processing time: 4 months (40 days for PSW).
